Chateau Kirwan has been making its mark in Margeaux over the lastfew years by producing seriously improved and rich elegant wines. Taking its name from its origional Irish owner and Galway merchant family - Kirwans.
Fermentation was carried out with selected yeasts with a fermentation temperature of 25°C. Simultaneous alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in stainless steel vats and a maceration of 18 to 25 days thereafter 18 months of barrel aging in French oak.
Aging has been kind to this vintage. The colour has deepened and given way to more complex aromas, combining black fruit with a variety of spices such as vanilla, liquorice and cinnamon. The palate has body and fleshiness, it fills the palate with deep ripened black cherry, mint, cocoa and mocha. A smooth finish with silky tannins and well defined acidity. Try it with a lamb hoptpot.
